A Hazleton man is accused of setting a house on fire in the community over the weekend.

Buchanan County sheriff’s officials arrested Kim Tielebein, 49, on first-degree arson and public intoxication charges after the fire was extinguished and an investigation was initiated. Tielebein was taken to the Buchanan County jail in Independence.

Authorities said Tielebein was drunk when the fire broke out at a house in the 400 block of E. Sufficool St. in Hazleton. Crews were called to the scene around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 25, 2017).

Officials say the incident involving Tielebein remains under investigation. The Hazleton and Oelwein Fire Departments and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office are all involved in the investigation.
