In what seems to be an epidemic of injuries, an area high school decided to cancel a junior-varsity football game scheduled to be played on Monday (Sept. 28, 2015).

East High in Waterloo reportedly has 13 football players out with injuries, all in the past week. The injuries include: three concussions, a back injury, an apparent ACL sprain, and a blown knee.

School officials note that at least some of the injuries are weather-related: the playing surface at Waterloo Memorial Stadium is torn up and hard following four-straight Friday night's of rain.

The last time the JV team played was Friday night.

East athletic director Al Pace says the rest of the team that is healthy, may be able to play a few games before the season ends.
