Lauritzen Win Thriller at Marshalltown Speedway

It was a fantastic night of racing at the Marshalltown Speedway on April 17, 2015. 110 cars signed in on Kruse Family and Sleeping Angels Foundation Night.

Jimmy Gustin and Brett Ladehoff started on the front row for the Coors Light IMCA Modified 20-lap maine event. Gustin used that to his advantage and took the early lead. Meanwhile behind the leaders, the field raced three and four wide. The 10th and 11th place starters, Brian Irvine and Ronn Lauritzen, emerged as contends for the lead. A series of early cautions tightened the field.

Lauritzen took the lead away from Gustin just after a series of early cautions. IMCA Modified Rookie contender made his way into second place. Irvine tried to chase down Laurtizen, but he had to settle for runner up finish as Lauritzen cruised to the win. Gustin finished third, last week's feature winner Josh Gilman finished fourth, and Eric Elliott was fifth.

In The Miller Lite IMCA Stock Cars 18 lap feature, it was Michael Bilyeu grabbing the lead on lap one. Bilyeu, Steve Meyer, Trent Murphy, and Jay Schmidt went four wide on lap two for the top spot with Meyer taking the lead. The only caution came out on lap three for Schmidt in turn two. Meyer continued to lead until Trent Murphy saw the door open on lap 15, Murphy took the lead away from Meyer. Meyer tried to get back by Murphy but Murphy held on for the win. Donavon Smith finished third, Michael Jaennette was fourth and Dave Atcher was fifth.

The IMCA Northern SportMods 18 lap feature saw Jared Van Deest use the high side to make he way into the lead and the eventual win. Jayme Duinink finished second. Travis Peterson, Sam Wieben, and Jenae Gustin rounded out the Top 5.

Toby K's Hideaway IMCA Hobby Stocks 15 lap feature win went to Eric Stanton over Nathan Ballard, Andrew Burg, John Watson and Benji Irvine followed them across the line.

Josh took the win in the Mod Lites A-Main.

Next Friday Night will be KMJ Performance Night at the Marshalltown SPeedway. Plus, it marks the first of five appearances by the Flat Track Open Quads. Hot Laps at 6:50pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
