Jennifer Nettles will return to the studio on Monday (May 18). The singer says she can't wait to begin focusing on music again after a short stint on Broadway.

"I’m super excited and hope to have a single in the summer and an album out in the fall," Nettles revealed to Taste of Country at the iHeartRadio Country Festival earlier this month. "Late fall!"

It will be her second solo album.

As for what the new single will sound like? Nettles played coy, but she said she hopes it's the "song of the summer."

A new solo album for Nettles means she and Sugarland partner Kristian Bush will wait a little longer before refocusing on the band. Nettles says they're both enjoying working on their own projects right now. She released her debut solo album That Girl in January 2014. Bush released Southern Gravity last month. For the record, the 40-year-old new Broadway star is a big fan of his song "Trailer Hitch."

"I love it! I think it’s exciting, and he’s really good at that kind of stuff, so I love that he’s doing it!" a bubbly Nettles tells us.

Bush has previously said the same of her music, adding that they stay in touch. Despite not having a song on the radio in over a year, Nettles has stayed both active and visible. She and Darius Rucker hosted the 2015 iHeartRadio Country Festival, and she returned to host the CMA Country Christmas once again last November. Add in her stint as Roxie Hart in Chicago and a collaboration with Reba McEntire and fans are barely finding time to miss her.
