Ben Jacobson has now won more games at the University of Northern Iowa than any of the school's previous men's basketball coaches. He reached the milestone against his alma mater on Saturday afternoon (November 15, 2014).

Jacobson became UNI's all-time wins leader when the Panthers recorded a 64-52 victory over the University of North Dakota in the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.

The victory was No. 167 in Jacobson's nine-year coaching career, surpassing O.M. "Hon" Nordly's total of 166 wins from 1938-43 and 1946-54.

Jacobson played at North Dakota from 1990-93 and beat his alma mater for the sixth straight time.

The Panthers used a career-high tying 24 points from senior Seth Tuttle and 15 points off the bench from junior Wes Washpun to put away UND.

UNI owned a 31-29 advantage at intermission and took control of the game early in the second half. The Panthers used a 9-0 run to push the margin to 40-31 with 15:01 remaining and built their lead to 50-38 at the 7:58 mark. North Dakota got no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

The game was the first of the season for both teams. UNI is now 9-0 in home openers under Jacobson. The Panthers are also 18-0 during the month of November in the McLeod Center.

UNI will be in action again on Tuesday at 8 a.m., playing a road game at Stephen F. Austin. The game in Nacogdoches, Texas, is part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon on ESPN2.
