Iowa High School Boys Basketball Rankings – 01/19/2015
Four boys high school basketball teams from the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are ranked in this week’s Associated Press poll, released today (Monday, January 19, 2015).
A shake-up in the Class-1A rankings has moved Gladbrook-Reinbeck to the top of the poll for the first time this season. The Rebels (11-0) replaced Le Mars Gehlen Catholic at No. 1, even though the Jays remain unbeaten. Half of the teams in the 1A poll remain perfect.
Waverly-Shell Rock is also ranked No. 1. The Go-Hawks (12-0) continue to lead the Class-3A poll. They were the unanimous choice to lead the rankings, receiving all 18 first-place votes cast by the media members who voted.
Aplington-Parkersburg and New Hampton are both featured in the Class-2A rankings. The A-P Falcons (13-0) are ranked third, following a one spot climb from last week. The Chickasaws (9-1) also advanced one spot, moving up to No. 5.
Three other area teams are close to cracking the top 10. Cedar Falls (Class-4A), Janesville (1A) and West Central of Maynard (1A) are all receiving votes for the poll.
