City officials in Waterloo want a clear picture of what future repairs -- if any -- are needed on a downtown bridge that spans the Cedar River.

Engineers are planning to inspect the 6th Street bridge this week, so they know specifically what structural issues need to be addressed. Crews plan to inspect the bridge Thursday morning (June 23, 2016).

According to information released by the city, traffic across the 6th Street bridge will be reduced from three lanes to two during the inspection. The traffic reduction is expected to begin around 8:30 a.m. City officials said they anticipate the bridge will be partially closed for around two hours.
