It was a big Saturday for Iowa Hawkeyes football. After earning the #5 ranking earlier in the week, Iowa held off Minnesota 40-35 to move to 10-0 for the first time in school history on Saturday, November 14, 2015.

The No. 5 Hawkeyes survived a fourth quarter comeback attempt by the Golden Gophers to improve to 10-0 and keep their chances of a College Football Playoff berth alive.

It is the first time in school history that the Hawkeyes have achieved a 10-0 record in its first ten games of the season. Since 2000, only three Big Ten schools have opened the season 10-0 (Iowa, 2015; Ohio State, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2013, Michigan: 2006).

Hawkeyes Head Coach Kirk Ferentz and the players wanted to thank the fans for helping push the team towards the victory.

"The fans were fantastic," Ferentz commented after the game. "Sold out, black-out crowd, and the energy was present from the time we came up pregame. Just an electric atmosphere. To be involved in this program 26 years now, these are the things our players will remember their entire lives. So just want to compliment our fans and thank them. Hope I see all 70-plus thousand of them next Saturday to send these seniors off."

Next Saturday (Nov. 21) it's Senior Night when Iowa hosts Purdue. The Gold & Black have an opportunity to clinch a Big Ten division title.

"We want to win it outright. That's our goal," Ferentz said about the opportunity to clinch. "But to win the game next week and clinch a bid, that would be fantastic. So that will be our goal tomorrow. We'll turn our sights on our next opponent. There is nothing easy in the conference. I know that. But we'll worry about that tomorrow. Tonight we'll enjoy this one and hopefully we'll get things ahead."

There is no doubt the Hawkeyes will wrap up their incredible season with a marque bowl game.

It could be an NCAA Playoff Game at the Orange Bowl or the Cotton Bowl, or maybe it be a game at the Rose, Fiesta, or Holiday Bowl. No matter which bowl game, you know you are going to want to go.

We will have the details coming very soon. Keep check our Hawkeyes Bowl Game Travel Package page for details.
