Gold Coin Found in a Waterloo Red Kettle

Excitement fills the air at The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls as a gold coin makes an appearance in the final days of the 2016 Red Kettle Campaign.

An anonymous donor dropped a gold coin in the famous red kettle this weekend at the Ansborough Hy-Vee. In past years anonymously donated coins have included gold coins, silver Double Eagle commemorative coins and a 1944 Mexican Centavos. The Salvation Army will have this gold coin appraised in the coming weeks.

The Red Kettles will be out in the Cedar Valley through Christmas Eve as The Salvation Army continues its annual fundraising campaign. Currently The Salvation Army has raised 61% toward is $683,000.00 goal.
