A former Dunkerton Police Chief has been arrested for improprieties.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Auditor's Office were recently contacted to investigate alleged improprieties regarding the former Police Chief for the City of Dunkerton. According to the Sheriff's release, Timothy Lee Schultz, 55, of rural Waterloo purchased gasoline for personal use with the city fuel credit card, in excess of $2,000.

After an investigation, Schultz was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft In The 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card (Class D Felony)

Schultz faces up to 5 years in prison and $7,500 in fines for each charge, if convicted.

Schultz is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on a $10,000 Bond.
