Hear Florida Georgia Line’s New Collaboration With Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso, ‘Let Me Go’

Always up for a cross-genre collaboration, Florida Georgia Line contributed to Hailee Steinfeld‘s new song “Let Me Go,” which also features DJ / producer Alesso and guitarist Watt. Readers can press play above to hear the catchy, soulful tune.

Opening with a mellow guitar riff, “Let Me Go” features Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley on its second verse. They’re singing call-and-response style to Steinfeld’s powerful pop pipes.

“It’s been some time / But this time ain’t even / I can leave it in the past / But you’re holding on to what you never had,” the lyrics of “Let Me Go” say. “It’s good on paper / Picture perfect / Chased the high too far too fast / Picket white fence but we paint it black.”

The happy, perky beat of “Let Me Go” belies the twinge of regret in its lyrics: “Ooh, and I wished you had hurt me harder than I hurt you / Ooh, and I wish you would have waited for me, but you always do / I’ve been hoping somebody loves you in the ways I couldn’t / Somebody’s taking care of all of the mess I’ve made / Someone you don’t have to change / I’ve been hoping / Someone will love you, let me go.”

Florida Georgia Line have an ever-growing repertoire of pop collaborations, including a song with Bebe Rexha and one with the Chainsmokers. Most notably, they worked with the Backstreet Boys, who then joined FGL for CMT Crossroads in August.
