An Anamosa man, wanted for allegedly vandalizing a veterans memorial, has been arrested in Oelwein.

20 year old Coty Lukemyres surrendered himself to Oelwein police shortly after 11pm Monday. Lukemyers was wanted on a Jones County arrest warrant on charges of criminal mischief 2nd degree, trespass, theft 5th degree and failure to appear for a revocation of probation.

Lukemyers and 21 year old Zachary Hansen are accused of vandalizing a veterans' memorial outside the Jones County courthouse in Anamosa last fall. Hansen had turned himself into Jones County authorities, and authorities had issued a warrant for Lukemyers.

Ten flags at the memorial had to be repaired or replaced in November by volunteers at a cost of around $2,000. Several flag poles were damaged and some flags were stolen from the site.
