Fayette County Accident sends 3 to the Hospital

A traffic accident west of Oelwein has put three people in the hospital.

It happened at about 5pm Tuesday, at the intersection of 40th street and Fayette County road W-13.

A semi driven by 73 year old Galen Burco of Oelwein, pulled out from a stop sign, into the path of a car driven by 48 year old Sonya Fuentes of Oran; the vehicles collided.

Fuentes and two of her passengers, 82 year old Joan Wiedimeir of Oran and 4 year old Siya Fuentes of Oran, were taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein. There was no word on their condition. All three were buckled-in.

Burco was not injured.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.
