Fatal Chickasaw County Crash Under Investigation

Authorities are investigating a fatal, one-vehicle accident that occurred in Chickasaw County Tuesday morning (May 31, 2016).

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the driver of a car was killed when the southbound vehicle left the roadway and struck the pillar of an overpass, about a half-mile south of New Hampton.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on U.S. Highway 63/U.S. Highway 18 at the 225th St. interchange.

While the Iowa State Patrol has not officially released the victim's name, an online obituary posted by Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in New Hampton identifies the driver as Kameron Bill, 22, of New Hampton.

Investigators are trying to determine how the accident happened.
