Fairbank Man Pleads, Sentenced in Indecent Contact Case

A Fairbank man has pleaded guilty to inappropriately touching a child, and has been given a suspended prison sentence.

58 year old David Bentley was arrested on May 15th of 2014, on a charge of indecent contact with a child, in Buchanan County. The arrest was made following an investigation by the Fairbank Police Department and Iowa Department of Human services, into an incident in 2013, in which Bentley is accused of touching the clothed breasts and inner thigh of an 11 year old girl.

The minor had previously received daycare services in Bentley's home, located on 6th Street North in Fairbank.

Bentley's case was moved to Fayette County on a change of venue request.

On Wednesday (Feb. 4th), Bentley pleaded guilty to the charge of indecent contact with a child in Fayette County District Court. He was then sentenced to a suspended prison term of two years, and put on supervised probation for 2 years.

He must also register as a sex offender, and was ordered to pay a fine and other penalties, totaling over $1,000.

A no-contact order was issued, preventing Bentley from having any contact with the victim for five years.
