[Exclusive Premiere] Jennifer Nettles – ‘Coat of Many Colors’ Deleted Scene
Dolly Parton's made-for-TV movie Coat of Many Colors will be available to own on DVD on Tuesday (May 3), and The Boot is celebrating its release with an exclusive clip from the movie -- a never-before-seen deleted scene featuring country star Jennifer Nettles.
In the clip, readers will see Nettles, who plays Parton's mother, talking to her oldest daughter Willadeene and instilling some confidence and love into her. We won't give away too much, but the short scene may have you wiping away a few tears!
The Coat of Many Colors DVD will feature a handful of extra goodies, including more deleted scenes and a song called "Mama" that Parton penned.
“You have to edit a movie forever to get the time for TV, but we really left a lot of stuff in,” Parton notes. “We left a lot of scenes that didn’t make it, some interviews, the making of the movie. It’s really got a lot of interesting things in it.”
The country icon adds that the DVD would make a great Mother's Day present, as the film is really less about Parton herself and more about her family.
“I’ve always said I wanted to honor my father and my mother,” Parton says. “I don’t think it just means to obey them, but I think it means to bring honor to their name and who they are. I really wanted to show people the kind of people that I came from.”
Coat of Many Colors was the most-watched broadcast television movie in three years when it aired on Dec. 10, 2015. Thirteen million viewers tuned in to watch the touching project, and it also earned NBC its best total-viewer results in the time period since 2009’s ER series finale. The DVD will be available for purchase on Amazon.
