The 14th Annual BBQ Loo and Blues Too! two day event happens Friday night July 17 from 5:30 to 9:30 and Saturday July 18th 11 AM to 9:30 PM at Lincoln Park, Downtown Waterloo.

Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for some delicious award winning BBQ and all the fixins available from several food and beverage vendors!

This KCBS Sanctioned BBQ contest features nearly 40 contestants competing in the categories of pork, brisket, chicken and ribs with awards given Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The annual Chili contest takes place on Friday night 5:30 PM to 8 PM. The public is invited to sample and vote for their favorite chili. Tickets to sample chili are just $3. Chili cook-off winners will be announced at 8:30 PM Friday. Also on Friday at 5:30 PM is the fourth annual Kid’s Q featuring children ages 6 thru 15 competing in basic BBQ categories.

The free Kids Korner will be open Friday 5:30 PM to 9:00 and Saturday 12 PM to 4 PM offering free activities for the children. 

On Saturday at 2:30 PM area Hy Vee Chefs will will face-off in an ice carving demonstration and contest. The celebrity rib eating contest starts on Saturday at 5:15 PM.

On Friday evening, July 17, The Mercury Brothers perform. This group is the winner of the 2014 Iowa Blues Challenge.

Three blues bands provide a full day of entertainment on Saturday, July 18. Taking the stage at 11:00 AM is the River Runners out of Kansas City. At 2 PM the legendary Johnny Rawls will take the stage.

Headlining the free blues lineup on Saturday evening at 6:30 is Corey Stevens. Stevens, a blues-based rock singer, songwriter has recorded nine albums and his southern rock and blues style is contagious and ready to infect the Cedar Valley.

You can also register to win one of four 50 lb. pork bundles. The drawing will be at 8 PM Saturday. Need not be present to win.
