ESPN To Showcase UNI On “College GameDay”

For the first time in school history, ESPN's "College GameDay" is showcasing a contest involving UNI.

ESPN announced today that the network's signature college basketball pre-game show will originate from two locations in the state of Kansas on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 -- Wichita and Lawrence.

The morning version will air live from Charles Koch Arena prior to Wichita State's home game against UNI, which starts at 1 p.m. “College GameDay” starts on ESPNU at 9 a.m. with a recorded hour before switching to ESPN for the live segment, beginning at 10 a.m.

The afternoon/evening segment of "College GameDay" starts at 3 p.m. on ESPN and will originate from Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, where No. 8 Kansas hosts Kansas.

The program traditionally spotlights games with national appeal and includes discusses of the top storylines of the college basketball season.

UNI and Wichita State currently have a combined record of 50-5. Both teams are 14-1 in MVC play and share the league lead with three games remaining. The Panthers host Bradley at 3 p.m. today at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.

The Panthers (25-2) are ranked 11th in this week's Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls, while Wichita State (25-3) is No. 13 in both surveys. UNI beat the Shockers, 70-54, on Jan. 31st.

When ESPN "College GameDay" showcases the Feb. 28th rematch, it'll mark only the second time the iconic show has originated from an MVC school. The program aired live from Carbondale, Ill. prior to a Southern Illinois-Creighton game in 2008.

ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith will join "College GameDay" host Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams for the morning editions. Davis, Bilas, Williams and Smith will then travel to Lawrence for the evening show.

Rich Hollenberg, Greenberg and Mark Adams will have the call of the Wichita State-UNI game.
