The National Weather Service in Des Moines says that large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are likely today (THU, MAY 3, 2018) in Northeast Iowa.

Weather spotters will likely be needed from time to time through Thursday evening.

The biggest threat to see this strong weather activity lies in central and southern Iowa, but that doesn't rule out the possibility of the severe weather to impact northeast Iowa.

Showers & thunderstorms are likely overnight (90% chance), especially after 4:00 AM with a in the low 50's. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Looking ahead, the sun will return to the Hawkeye state Friday & Saturday. THere is another round of rain possible late Saturday into Sunday (30% chance) and then again Tuesday into Wednesday.
