Authorities are looking for what caused a fire that destroyed a Northeast Iowa business early this (Friday) morning.

Edgewood Firefighters were called out at about 4am to Edgewood Auto and Tire. The blaze apparently started in an area where the company stores tires. The building was totaled, but no one was injured.

Firecrews had to use a crane to knock down portions of the building; in the process, they hit a gas line. Utility workers were then called out to shut the gas leak off.

The owner of Edgewood Tire and Auto had been out of the country, but is now on his way back. Edgewood Tire has 9 employees.

The origin of the fire remains under investigation.
