Dwight Yoakam is trading in his act on the country music stage for an acting gig on television. He is slated to star in Amazon’s upcoming original drama Goliath.

The streaming drama will reunite Yoakam with former co-star Billy Bob Thornton. The two worked side-by-side in the 1996 drama Sling Blade.

According to Deadline, Yoakam will play the role of Wendell Corey, a large aerospace corporation head. Yoakam's character is being protected by powerful law firm Cooperman McBride. Thornton's character, Billy McBride, will spend Season One attempting to take both the corporation and the law firm down, in a very 'David vs. Goliath' kind of way. There is no set release date for the series as of yet.

The country legend has spent his share of time on the screen; he has previously held roles in a variety of TV series including Under the Dome and Wilfred, and movies Panic Room, Crank and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.

In addition to Yoakam's already impressive resume, the actor and musician has recently added "producer" to his list.  He has teamed up with actor Jack Black for a new sitcom titled Belles & WhistlesThe show is currently being produced at Fox, with help from 20th Century Fox TV and Electric Dynamite.

Belles & Whistles is a “single-camera comedy with music elements.” The show follows a father who recently lost his job in Silicon Valley and decides to round his family up and move them to Nashville so he can follow his lifelong musical dreams.

Belles & Whistles is still pending an air date.
