Devin Dawson may be enjoying considerable success for his breakout single, "All On Me," but his chops covering other artists' songs are equally strong. Readers can press play above to watch his rendition of Foy Vance's "She Burns," which Dawson performed as part of Taste of Country's RISERS series, as proof.

Dawson and his two backing guitarists keep their acoustic instrumental lines minimal, showcasing a faithful but confidently unique vocal performance from the Dark Horse singer. Though Dawson appears comfortable in the song, he shared with Taste of Country that performing other artists' songs can be daunting at first.

"Covers for me are like when you go to the beach as a kid with your family and you're scared to get in the water because it's cold, or there might be sharks or something, and then five minutes before you leave you dip your toes in and are like, 'I love this. This is awesome. We should stay!" Dawson explains. "And your mom's like, 'No, I told you. You should have gone in in the beginning.'"

Any nerves Dawson might have felt in the beginning don't come through in his performance, which builds towards a powerful conclusion of round-style guitar harmonies and a steadily building vocal line.

Dawson most recently shared an intimate performance of his song, "Asking for a Friend," which is included as part of the RISERS series. Also one of the Boot's 2018 Artists to Watch, Dawson plans to hit in the road in June to open for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill during the second leg of their Soul2Soul Tour. In addition to the success he continues to enjoy with his single, "All on Me," he nabbed a New Male Vocalist of the Year nomination in the 2018 ACM Awards.
