Wartburg Women’s Basketball Team Earns Iowa Conference Title

The Wartburg Knights women's basketball team won the 2017 Iowa Conference (IIAC) championship tournament. Next up is the NCAA D-III tournament.

This is the school's first IIAC Conference Tournament Title since 2002. The Knights receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. This marks the team's second-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

As the tournament's number one seed, the Knights hosted the championship game against number two seed Luther College. Wartburg (25-2) put down Luther (17-8), 81-66.

Katie Sommer lead the Knights in scoring netting 27 points, one shy of career mark. She added six assists and six rebounds. Aryn Jones added 15 points and lead the team in blocked shots with three.
