The University of Northern Iowa released the 2017-2018 Panthers wrestling schedule. UNI's home opener is set for November 19th.

Northern Iowa will open the season on the road. On November 4th,  the team competes in the Harold Nichols Open on November 4th. A trip to Ithaca, New York is next for a dual meet against Cornell.

UNI will open its home dual schedule against North Dakota State Nov. 19.

Head coach Doug Schwab feels that the four home duals will be competitive meets

“We have four home duals,” said Schwab. “Obviously four good ones: NDSU, with the football rivalry that adds to it. We have North Carolina coming in as a good, solid ACC team with a new coach. They are getting better.”

“We finish with Iowa State and Missouri and having the UNI Open sandwiched between there, it gives our fans an opportunity to see us against some good competition,” added Schwab. “They’ll see some good rivalries, especially moving to the Big 12 and having that dual with Iowa State is a great thing. We’ve created a pretty good rivalry with Missouri in these last few years.”

A new road event will test the team. The Virginia Duals features some stout opponents.

“The Virginia Duals will be a strong event,” Schwab said. “I know Arizona State is there. Iowa State is there and Virginia and Virginia Tech and some other teams we don’t normally get to see."

Season tickets are on sale now for $35 and includes the cost of the UNI Open. Cost of the Iowa State vs. UNI dual is $15, and the remaining duals will cost $7 at the door. Fans can call (319) 273-4849 or go online at UNIPanthers.com/tickets.
