Illinois State claimed a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title with a 63-42 triumph over the UNI Panthers at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls Saturday afternoon (Feb. 25, 2017).

The Redbirds (25-5 overall, 17-1 MVC) ended the game on a 21-4 run after UNI had closed to within 42-38 with 9:40 left on the clock. Illinois State was led in scoring by MiKyle McIntosh with 15 points. Paris Lee and Keyshawn Evans each added 14 points. Lee led the Redbirds with eight rebounds.

UNI (14-15 overall, 9-9 MVC) was led in scoring by senior Jordan Ashton with 13 points. Ashton knocked in a career-high four three-pointers for Coach Ben Jacobson's squad, which shot 35.6 percent from the floor and was limited to just 17 second-half points.

The Panthers will await the result of the final MVC regular season game tonight between Loyola and Southern Illinois to determine their final seeding for the 2017 State Farm MVC Tournament. A Southern Illinois victory would give UNI the No. 3 seed by virtue of its season sweep of the Salukis. UNI could also be the No. 3 seed by having a better RPI than Loyola when the RPI Report is released Sunday morning from the Collegiate Basketball News.
