The UNI Panthers rallied from a 12-point deficit in the final eight minutes to score a 58-57 road win over Southern Illinois Saturday night (Jan. 21, 2016).

UNI (8-11 overall, 3-5 MVC) won its third straight game overall and its first on the road this season. The Panthers had four players in double-figures with Jordan Ashton leading the way with 14 points.

Southern Illinois (11-10 overall, 4-4 MVC) held a 54-42 lead after a Mike Rodriguez three-pointer with 8:22 left in the game. But the Panthers limited the Salukis to only one other made field goal in the closing eight minutes.

Ashton capped the comeback when he dropped in a pair of free throws with :15 left in the game. Southern Illinois had two chances to win the game but the shots misfired and the Panthers claimed the victory.

UP NEXT: UNI will be back in action at home Wednesday at 7 p.m., hosting the Evansville Purple Aces at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.
