Must Win Game Tonight for Black Hawks
The Waterloo Black Hawks face a 'must win game' tonight inside Young Arena. Let's pack 'Party Town' and cheer on out Black Hawks when they play the Tri-City Storm. Puck drops at 7:05 PM.
The Tri-City Storm denied the Waterloo Black Hawks’ 41 shots on goal Friday and took Game Three of the second round Clark Cup Playoff Series between the teams, 3-0 at Young Arena.
Jake Kielly earned the shutout, his second of the series and third of the playoffs. The Storm defense was also notable during the final ten minutes of the third period. With a healthy amount of offensive zone time, Waterloo’s comeback bid was stymied by consistent shot blocks and diving pass breakups.
The Storm now lead the best-of-five series 2-1.
The only goal of the first period went to the Storm following an icing call. When play restarted, Tri-City took possession, generating a scoring chance which forced a lunging Cale Morris save. Wade Allison followed up, notching a rebound goal at 5:45.
Tri-City struck again during the second period. Behind the Waterloo net at 4:01, Joe Cipollone slipped a pass to Max Humitz zipping through the right circle, and the flying forward lifted a shot off the crossbar and into the net.
With 6.2 seconds remaining in regulation, Jake Wahlin added an empty-netter to secure the result.
An instant Game Four rematch is scheduled for Saturday in Young Arena, beginning at 7:05 p.m. Waterloo must win to force a fifth game in Kearney, Nebraska, on Tuesday. Tickets are on sale now from waterlooblackhawks.com or by calling the Domino’s Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680.
