A dozen high school football teams from the Cedar Valley and Northeast Iowa are featured in the latest high school football poll released by the Associated Press on Monday (Sept. 21, 2015).

One of the newcomers is Denver, which joined the top-10 in Class-1A following Friday's 21-7 win over third-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck. The Cyclones (3-1) made their debut at No. 6 this week and earned one first-place vote. The Rebels (2-2) dropped six spots to No. 9 after being upset by Denver.

Another area team that fell in the poll was Cedar Falls. The Tigers (3-1) dropped from fourth to No. 10 in Class-4A after Friday night's 56-49 triple-overtime loss at Urbandale.

Another big win for Independence has resulted in a higher ranking the Mustangs. Independence climbed three spots to No. 7 in Class-3A following a 14-7 win at Waverly-Shell Rock last week. The Mustangs are off to a 4-0 start for the first time since 1973.

Hudson moved up one spot in Class-1A, while Dike-New Hartford stayed at No. 2 in the same survey.

Also holding the same positions they had last week were: West Delaware (Class-3A), Waukon (2A), North Fayette Valley (2A), Don Bosco (8-Player), Central Community (8-Player) and Janesville (8-Player).
