Adam McGinnis knocked in five runs on just two hits as the Waterloo Bucks rallied for an 8-6 victory over La Crosse at Riverfront Stadium Tuesday night (June 28, 2016).

McGinnis crushed a towering three-run home run over the left field walk in the bottom of the first inning, helping Waterloo (19-8) erase the Loggers' early 4-0 lead. Taylor Boyd led off the inning with a walk before stealing second. Two batters later, Tyler Curtis drew another walk and set the stage for McGinnis to smash his team-leading sixth round-tripper of the season.

La Crosse (14-14) increased its advantage to 6-3 with a pair of second-inning runs, but the Bucks cut the margin to two with a score in their half of the frame. Robert Neustrom singled to left and moved to second on a wild pitch. A Loggers' throwing error allowed Neustrom to take third. Daniel Perry made it 6-4 with an RBI single to center, scoring Neustrom.

Waterloo tied the game at 6-6 with a pair of runs in the third inning. Curtis drew a five-pitch walk to start the inning before McGinnis muscled a single into right-center field. Lane Milligan then loaded the bases with a single to left, extending his season-high on-base streak to 12 games. A sacrifice fly by Jake Hand and a single by Neustrom plated the two runs.

The Bucks took their first lead of the game with a run in the fourth. Boyd reached on a fielding error to start the frame. Then, a perfectly executed hit-and-run by Curtis and Boyd gave Waterloo runners on the corners. Boyd eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by McGinnis, putting Waterloo ahead 7-6.

The home team doubled its lead to 8-6 with a run in the seventh inning. Alex Boxwell tripled to right-center and later scored on a infield groundout by McGinnis, who increased his Northwoods League-leading RBI total to 33 by driving in five of the Bucks' runs. The Northwoods League (NWL) named McGinnis position player of the night following his offensive performance.

Brett Solano (3-1) recorded the win for Waterloo, despite allowing six runs on eight hits. He walked batters and had one strike out in five innings of work. Brandon Downey recorded his league-tying eighth save.

UP NEXT: The Bucks continue their five-game homestand on Wednesday (June 29), hosting the opening game of a split-site, day-night doubleheader against the Loggers. First pitch in game one is at 11:05 a.m. from Riverfront Stadium. The nightcap will be played at Copeland Park in La Crosse, Wis., starting at 7:05 p.m.
