Black Hawks Split Over the Weekend, Best Road Record

The Waterloo Black Hawks went 1-1 while on the road this past weekend.

On Friday (11/03/2017), Waterloo traveled to Sioux City. The Black Hawks broke a 1-1 tie thanks to a Garrett Wait goal at 4:29 into the third period. The lead was shot lived. At 5:42, the Musketeers evened things back up. Neither team could close the deal in regulation. Jackson Cates slipped in a game-winning shot 59 seconds into overtime, sending the Waterloo Black Hawks past the Sioux City Musketeers, 3-2.

On Saturday (11/04/2017) the Black Hawks made their way to Fargo to take on the Force. Waterloo held a 1-0 lead after the first period of play thanks to a goal from Danny DiGrande, but Fargo fired back with three goals in the second period. With the second period coming to a close, Matt Koopman helped lift Waterloo back within one (3-2). Three third period goals by the Fargo Force were the difference Saturday at Scheels Arena, sending the home team past the Waterloo Black Hawks, 6-3.

Despite the loss Saturday, the Black Hawks have the best road record in the United States Hockey League netting 10 standing points so for this season. Overall, Waterloo sits in fourth place in the Western Conference.

NEXT UP: Waterloo has another weekend of road games. On November 10-11, the team will travel to Nebraska for a two-game set with the Tri-City Storm. The Black Hawks return home November 17-18. On the 17th, Waterloo faces in-state rival Dubuque, and there is a special Family Four Pack meal deal available that night (read more). On the 18th, the Green Bay Gamblers come to Young Arena.
