A big third period helped lift the Waterloo Black Hawks to an opening season win while on the road in Sioux Falls, SD.

Ben Copeland, Jackson Cates, Garret Waits, and Garrett Klee each scored goals for Waterloo. Black Hawks goalie Matej Tomek earned the 'First Star' of the game saving 22 of 24 shots he faced. Wait earned the 'Second star'.

Next up for the Black Hawks is Friday (Oct. 13, 2017) game in Dubuque against the Fighting Saints at Mystique Ice Center. Waterloo’s home opener is the following night at Young Arena during the home-and-home series this weekend.

Black hawks fans will want to checkout the newly remodeled Coors Light Cold Zone inside Young Arena. The size is nearly doubled thanks to the a new floor now suspended above Young Arena’s ticket office lobby. It will be unveiled Saturday night during the team's home opener.
