A Decorah man, credited with establishing the very popular eagle cam, has passed away.

According to sources, Bob Anderson died unexpectedly on Monday. Anderson had reportedly been dealing with health issues as of late.

Anderson was the director of the Raptor Resource Project.

He was responsible for setting up a camera system that monitors a family of eagles in their nest in a tree near Decorah. The website has become the most watched live-stream ever, with over 300 million views. People around the world witnessed first hand, the nesting of a pair of bald eagles, their laying of eggs, young birds hatching, then leaving the nest.

He also had a love of peregrine falcons and other endangered species.

There is no word yet on funeral arrangements for Bob Anderson.
