Cedar Falls 'National Night Out Celebration' was a huge success.

On Tuesday, August 2nd, the Cedar Falls Police Department teamed with the Target Retail for the 7th time to celebrate the National Night Out Against Crime event. There were about 500-550 people in attendance throughout the evening and the weather cooperated with reasonable temperatures and humidity.

A professional face painter was at the event and was kept busy with a line of children and adults to take advantage of her talents. The Cedar Falls Hy-Vee store supported the event by sending staff along with their grills to provide free hot dogs and bratwurst.

The Covenant Hospital AirCare helicopter was on display along with its flight crew to answer questions and allow people to get a close-up look at an airborne ambulance, and was one of the favorites with the crowd. There were also fire trucks, ambulance, police K9, police vehicles, a police motorcycle and bicycles on site to visit and a chance to talk with members of the departments that provide the services to the community. The Cedar Falls Police Department, Cedar Falls Fire Rescue, Covenant Hospital, Iowa State Patrol, Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office and the UNI Police Department were all present during the event

This was a great opportunity to meet and talk with emergency services personnel for children and adults alike; while learning about crime prevention and safety and having some family fun. The department and Target is appreciative of the community support that was evident during this crime prevention event.
