Just after Noon today (Thursday, November 5th) while responding to a medical emergency, a Cedar Falls fire truck was involved in an accident.

The Cedar Falls Fire Department fire truck was responding to a medical emergency call on North College Street. The truck was traveling on Franklin Street with its emergency lights and siren activated, when a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan pulled out from the eastbound stop sign on West 2nd Street and collided with the fire truck.

The Grand Caravan received disabling damage and was towed from the scene. It is estimated to be a total loss. The Fire Truck received approximately $4,000.00 damage to the front of the vehicle.

The driver of the Grand Caravan, Samuel Michael Schlamp of 33709 Vail Avenue, Cedar Falls, was issued a citation for failing to yield from a stop sign.

None of the occupants of the Fire Truck or Grand Caravan were injured.
