I have never claimed to be a texting know-it-all. IKR? The other day I learned yet another new texting shorthand, but I learned this lesson with a little egg on my face. SMH!

I try not to use a ton of acronyms when I type a text message. That's due in part because I don't study the latest cryptic codes that someone just came up with. That being said, every once in a while, I do drop a few in to save time or space.

The other day I received a text from a friend of mine toting that his son did really well during his last baseball game, and that the advice I gave them paid off. Because he wasn't a baseball dad, he was pretty proud that he was able to teach his some something, and that it paid off.

"Good for you," i thought to myself, so I decided to send a quick congrats.

Since I was about to step into a meeting, I decided to just text back, "GFY" to save time, and I went about my business.

Much to my surprise, he instantly called me. He was a little confused. After I told him what I was trying to say, I learned a different meaning for "GFY".

Apparently, it also could mean that you are saying to "Go" and do a specific act to "Yourself" to someone.

So after a few awkward moments of silence, I said, "Good to know."

"Hey, Doren. GFY2." he said as he hung up the phone laughing ... at me.
