With Brock Boeser and Tom Novak only two weeks away from what could be one of the most memorable nights of their hockey careers, Waterloo Black Hawks fans are invited to watch the first round of the 2015 National Hockey League Draft together at Pepper’s Grill and Sports Pub in Cedar Falls on Friday, June 26th beginning at 5:30.

Boeser and Novak each have the opportunity to be the first Black Hawks chosen during the opening round of an NHL Draft since Peter Ferraro was claimed by the New York Rangers with the 24th overall pick in 1992. At least one player with ties to the Black Hawks has been selected at some point during each of the past ten NHL Drafts. In just the last two years, the Hawks have celebrated three second-round picks among eight total players drafted.

With the two 18-year-old forwards ranking among the prospects who could be called early, the Black Hawks are hosting their first-ever NHL Draft Party. All fans are invited to attend. Festivities at Pepper’s begin at 5:30, ahead of televised draft coverage, which starts at 6 p.m. from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida, home of the Florida Panthers. Those on hand will have the opportunity to win Black Hawks prizes.

Pepper’s Grill and Sports Pub is located at 620 East 18th Street in Cedar Falls. Those present for the party and aged 21 or over can enjoy a draft beer special, with $3.50 22 oz. Pepper’s cups of domestic brews, including Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Light. Fridays are also Steak Nights at Pepper’s, with prime rib and ribeye specials.

During the 2014/15 United States Hockey League season, Boeser and Novak were both named to USHL All-Rookie Teams. Boeser tied for the league lead with 35 goals and paced the Black Hawks with 68 points. Novak was second on the club with 48 points, despite missing much of the season’s final month due to a lower body injury. NHL Central Scouting ranked both forwards among the top 30 North American skating prospects in its final pre-draft list released in April.
