Just over a week after his trade to the Waterloo Black Hawks, Cale Morris has been recognized as the United States Hockey League CCM Goaltender of the Week, the USHL announced on Monday.

The Larkspur, Colorado native followed up a January 17th victory in his Black Hawks road debut by claiming a pair of wins for Waterloo on home ice over the weekend.  Last Friday, Morris defeated his former team, the Chicago Steel, by making 29 saves during a 7-1 decision.  The next night, he earned a shutout against the Des Moines Buccaneers with 25 stops.

Since the trade, Morris is 3-0-0 and has turned away 69 of 71 shots he has faced.  Including his stats from earlier this season with the Steel, Morris is now 11-9-1 during his second USHL campaign.  His combined 2014/15 goals-against average is 2.92, with a 90.4% save percentage.

The 18-year-old’s achievement marks the fourth time this season that a Black Hawk has won a USHL Weekly Award.  Hayden Lavigne was also named Goaltender of the Week in October, and Brock Boeser has been the USHL’s Forward of the Week twice.
