Black Hawk County Fatality Accident

A Cedar Falls man is dead and two people injured in a traffic accident near Washburn.

It happened at about 8:30pm Saturday, in the 6,000 block of Laporte Road.

Details on the cause of the accident are not yet clear, except it involved two vehicles colliding head-on. The accident is still under investigation by the Black Hawk County sheriff's office.

Rescue workers had to extricate both of the drivers, identified as 29 year old Joshua Dunt of Raymond, and 20 year old Warren Van Wie of Cedar Falls. Van Wie was pronounced dead at a local hospital. His passenger, 18 year old Leah McGrane, was treated for non-life
threatening injuries.
