New Netflix Instant Releases: August 2017
It’s almost the end of the month, and you know what that means: new stuff is coming to a streaming service near you. Here is everything arriving to Netflix in August to keep you busy on one of those rainy late-summer nights.
A New ‘James Bond’ Movie Is Officially Coming November 2019
Sounds like our good friends across the pond have gotten tired of all the rumors swirling about the future of the James Bond franchise, because the series has just officially announced a new movie is definitely coming, and it already has a release date.
James Cameron’s ‘Avatar 2’ Will Be Screened in Glasses-Free 3-D
James Cameron is the kind of director who likes to revolutionize the industry he works in whenever he makes a movie. Shot entirely in a new format of 3-D motion-capture, his Avatar wowed audiences with its visual style and groundbreaking effects, and Cameron is poised to do it again. He announced today that Avatar 2 will be projected in 3-D, but audiences won’t need their glasses.
New Netflix Instant Releases: July 2017
The end of one month means the start of another, which also means that new things are coming to a streaming platform near you. Netflix’s July instant releases are stacked, and include a few classic cartoon dinosaur movies, the premieres of a new Netflix original shows, and one Star Wars Story.
New Netflix Instant Releases: June 2017
It’s that time again: time to round up everything coming and going from all the streaming services at the start of the new month. Netflix has a pretty fantastic slate for this June, which includes their Cannes contender Okja, directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Tilda Swinton and Jake Gyllenhaal. There’s also a few popular 2016 releases like Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only the End of the World, and Catfight, that movie about Sandra Oh and Anne Heche beating the living daylights out of each other. And if you want to hear a bunch of animated plants sing Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence,” give Trolls a shot.
Tom Cruise Just Confirmed ‘Top Gun 2’ Is Happening, May Start Production This Year
Some days it seems like a new sequel rumor hits the Internet every day. Whispers of Top Gun 2 have been floating around the stratosphere for a few years, with the movie even getting a screenwriter at one point, Val Kilmer vowing to return, and even a mysterious meeting with Jerry Bruckheimer. Sometimes, because of timing or lack of resources or myriad other reasons, sequels just don’t end up happening even if they’re hyped. But today brings good news for Top Gun 2 hopefuls: it’s definitely happening, and Tom Cruise himself says it’ll start filming within the next twelve months.
One ‘Last Jedi’ Poster Seems to Claim It’ll Have The Biggest Reveal in ‘Star Wars’ History
Because Disney and Lucasfilm are, by now, experts at releasing only as scant an amount of information as they want to, we know next to nothing about Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We know who’s in it, and who most of them will be playing, and that Mark Hamill finally has lines this time, but aside from that, it’s all a big mystery. There are a few big questions raised in The Force Awakens that Last Jedi will have to answer, one way or another, but a new Japanese poster suggests that the movie is going to drop a pretty huge bombshell — the hugest in Star Wars history, no less.
‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Is Being Held Hostage by Actual Online Pirates
Since online pirates tend to view “don’t steal stuff” as more of a guideline than an actual rule, it’s no surprise that eventually they’d start taking aim at Hollywood. And, hey, why not start big, with, say, Disney, the biggest studio in the business? And instead of pilfering something like Coco, how about going after, I dunno, maybe Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installment in one of the most recognizable brands worldwide? Well, that’s exactly what a group of hackers apparently did.
James Gunn Has Already Started Writing the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Script
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hasn’t even officially hit theaters yet — we’ve still got a couple hours — but James Gunn is already hard at work drafting the screenplay of Vol. 3.
Amazon Prime Instant Video and TV Releases for May Announced
Amazon released their list of what to look forward to streaming on their instant video service next month, and May has some absolute winners. Not only did the site nab Oscar nominee Manchester by the Sea, they’ll also have available to stream last year’s Best Picture winner Moonlight, their new Original Series Dino Dana and I Love Dick, and a ton of classic James Bond movies.
