A Northeast Iowa high school student has been arrested for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a younger child.

19 year old James William Hanson of Fayette, a student at West Central High School in Maynard, was taken into custody Monday (April 11) on a charge of indecent contact with a child, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.

An investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office determined that on March 31st of this year, Hanson had indecent contact with a nine year old girl at West Central.

School officials notified the sheriff after they learned of the incident.

Hanson was being held in the Fayette County Jail in West Union, on a no-bond warrant.
