Area Man Seriously Hurt in Weekend Pickup Rollover

An Oelwein man has been seriously hurt in a pickup rollover accident.

Just before 8am Sunday (Oct. 4th), the Fayette County Sheriff's Office was called to a vehicle rollover on "K" Avenue, just north of Stanley.

A pickup driven by 37 year old Shane Galligan, was southbound, when he lost control.

The pickup went into a ditch then rolled multiple times, ejecting Galligan.

He was initially taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, then later airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa city with possible life-threatening injuries. There was no word on his present condition.

The vehicle was totaled.

The Fayette County Sheriff is still investigating, and charges are pending.
