Accident Involving 2 Pickups and a Trailer, Investigated

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate an accident in which a pickup collided with a trailer during a passing attempt.
It happened at about 3:30pm Tuesday (Sept. 27), at the intersection of Highway 18 and "T" Avenue, northwest of Hawkeye.

39 year old Keith Reese of Owatonna, Minnesota, was driving a pickup, towing an enclosed trailer. At the intersection, Reese slowed to make a left turn.

38 year old Michael Johnson Jr. of Tripoli was following the trailer, and did not notice when it began to turn left. Johnson attempted to pass the truck and trailer, but ran into the back of the trailer.

No one was injured, but there was $10,000 damage to the trailer and Reese's 2007 Dodge Ram, and $7,500 damage to Johnson's 2016 Ford F-150.
