Five Northeast Iowa teens are recovering after their car crashed into a grain truck.

The accident happened at about 8am Tuesday, just south of Parkersburg on Highway 14 in Grundy County. A semi pulling a grain trailer, driven by 59 year old Douglas Tjeerdsma, slowed to make a turn into a farm drive.

A car, driven by 17 year old Korrigan Hippen of Aplington, was following the truck, and could not slow down to avoid a collission.

Hippen was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo for treatment. Four of his passengers were also injured.

17 year old Connor Poppen of Aplington and 16 year old Trevor Haren of Parkersburg were taken to Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls, while 16 year olds Haily Holven and Nathaniel Hemann, both of Parkersburg, were transported to Allen Hospital.

A condition report on the teens was not available, however according to the Grundy County Sheriff, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
