There's nothing better on a cold winter's night then snuggling up in your favorite P.J.'s and sippin' on a cup of chocolaty goodness. Sometimes grownups just need an extra kick after a hard day's work so why not get creative? 

Here are five hot chocolate drinks that are sure to knock your socks off!

Pumpkin Pie Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3.5 ounces white chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin pie liquor
  • pinch of salt

Directions:

Place all ingredients except for liquor in a medium saucepan and cook under medium-low heat, stirring constantly.  Once the ingredients have thoroughly combined and chocolate has melted, add liquor.

Tequila Mint Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces peppermint schnapps
  • Whipped cream and mint leaf garnish

Directions:

In a medium saucepan, stir cocoa with sugar and salt. Stir in milk, milk chocolate, and bittersweet chocolate. Heat over medium heat until melted.and mixture is hot. Gently whisk to completely homogenize mixture.

Add tequila and peppermint schnapps. Divide into serving cups and top with whipped cream and mint.

Irish Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz.) bottle Guinness
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces Bailey's
  • 4 ounces Irish whiskey

Directions

In a medium saucepan, cook Guinness over medium-high heat until reduced to 1/2 cup, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

In medium saucepan, stir cocoa with sugar and salt. Stir in milk, milk chocolate, and bittersweet chocolate. Heat over medium heat stirring constantly untill chocolate is melted and mixture is hot. Gently whisk to completely homogenize mixture.

Add Bailey's follwed by reduced Guinness and whiskey. Using a hand blender, whisk untill frothy, pour into individual serving cups and serve immediately. Add whipped cream if you wish.

Coconut Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce of semisweet chocolate
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp of vanilla
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut rum

Directions

Melt the chocolate in a medium saucepan over low heat. Once it's melted, add all of the remaining ingredients except the rum. Raise the heat to medium high and cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture is smooth and beginning to bubble, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove form the heat, stir in the rum and pour into a mug to serve.

Boozy White Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 ounces of rum
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom
  • Marshmallows or whipped cream for topping

Directions

In a small pot, on medium-low heat, add all the ingredients except for the marshmallows and rum. Use a whisk to mix everything together ans slowly melt the chocolate.

Once the heated milk is hot enough but not boiling, add rum and pour into mugs. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream.
