Two Cedar Valley area youth travel baseball clubs are preparing for their 2015 tryouts.  Full Count Sports Academy and the Heat Baseball Club are looking to fill empty spots on each of their respective rosters.

It might seem too early to be thinking about baseball in 2015, but the 2015 season actually begins today (August 1).  Both Full Count and the Heat play under the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), which sanctions several youth sports programs including baseball.

Just like our area schools whose athletic year begins and ends with the school year (August to July), the USSSA follows a scholastic calendar.  Fall baseball leagues are forming now, and teams that participate under the USSSA banner are earning points towards the 2015 season.

The Heat Baseball Club will be holding 9u, 10u, and 12u tryouts with the other teams (11u, 13u, and 14u) needing just a few ball players. To get more details, please contact Mike Knipp via email at mheatbaseball@aol.com or via phone at 319-610-3202.

The Full Count Sports Academy has scheduled their tryouts for Saturday, August 2, 2014 (9a-12n).  The location will be at the Birdsall Sports Complex in Cedar Falls.  This is open to ages 8-14.  This includes the 12u team I will be coaching.  Walk-ups welcomed.

Both clubs operate in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, but feature players from towns all over Black Hawk county and beyond.

I’m working on forming a Spring/Summer baseball league for teams that play under the USSSA banner.  That season is projected to start in late April 2015, and it would run until early June 2015.  To learn more about my Cedar Valley Baseball Project, visit CedarValleyBaseball.com.
