The Buchanan County Board of Supervisors has certified a canvas of votes cast in last week's special election in Hazleton. The canvas was conducted Monday, of the August 18th election to fill 2 seats on the Hazleton City Council.

The vote totals remain the same as the initial count.

Winners of the posts were Gene Seiffert and Ronald Vawter. Seiffert's term expires December 31st of this year, while Vawter's term is through December 31st of 2017.

Meanwhile, the Oelwein City council has a new member. At the regular meeting Monday night, the council appointed Matt Weber to represent the First Ward, a post vacated by Ted Malget.

Weber's term will expire at the end of this year.
