It's two days of Award Winning BBQ and Free Blues Concerts at the 15th Annual BBQ'Loo and Blues Too event.

The 15th Annual BBQ Loo and Blues Too! two day event happens Friday night July 15 from 5:30 to 9:30 and Saturday July 16 11:am to 9:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park, Downtown Waterloo.

Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for some delicious award winning BBQ and blues! Other food and beverage vendors will also be available.

This KCBS Sanctioned BBQ contest features nearly 40 contestants competing in the categories of pork, brisket, chicken and ribs with awards given Saturday at 3:45 p.m.

Friday, July 15th Entertainment:

Mother Ship Blues Band - This group is the winner of the 2015 Iowa Blues Challenge. Rest assured this is some funky and soulful blues!

Kid’s Q Competition - Featuring children ages 6 thru 15 showing their culinary skills in chicken and ground beef categories.

Saturday, July 16th Entertainment: 

Matt Woods - Woods is both a native of Iowa and a longstanding purveyor of its diverse blues scene. He has won the Iowa Blues Challenge an unprecedented three times. A consummate live performer, Woods performs original music as well as many rare, once-forgotten covers with passion.

Dr. Duke Tumatoe & the Power Trio - Throughout his illustrious career, Tumatoe opened for several legendary artists including Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, George Thorogood, Fabulous Thunderbirds and John Fogerty. Tumatoe is also a regular on the Bob and Tom Radio Show and has produced many songs in that studio including the infamous NFL Song. Tumatoe’s humorous blues swagger will leave you wanting more.

The Rusty Wright Band - Mix together equal helpings of top-notch musicianship, vintage blues passion, Southern rock verve, blue-collar sentiment and a joyous stage attitude, and you’ve got the Rusty Wright Band. Since 2004, that wizard has spearheaded release of four widely praised studio albums and 2011’s “Live Fire,” stared stages with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Etta James, Johnny Winter, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Bettye Lavette, Walter Trout and many more, toured the world and has been multiple times represented the Detroit Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge. The band’s most recent album, “Wonder Man” reached #8 on the Billlboard Blues chargt, #3 on the Hit GTracks 100 chart (Europe) and is nominated for album of the year in Vingtage Guitar Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards.

On Saturday, Hy Vee chefs will be doing ice carving demonstrations during band breaks. The celebrity rib eating contest starts on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The free Kids Korner will be open Friday 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 and Saturday noon to 4 p.m. with free children’s activities.

Also register to win one of four 60 lb. pork bundles. Drawing at 10 p.m. Saturday. Need not be present to win.
